“Our community wrapped their arms around us with their love and support through our heartbreak. With the Alaina’s Voice Foundation, we hope to give that love back.”
Hannah Housley, Alaina’s Mom & President Alaina’s Voice Foundation
Alaina’s Voice Foundation has a mission to inspire hope and kindness through education, music and mental health initiatives. We believe this is the best way to inspire hope and kindness as we surpass a long year and a half, by listening to music, together, outside with our community.
Alaina was out dancing on college night with her friends, which is what we should all do. Take time to have fun and enjoy life. That night, she lost her life with 11 others due to a senseless act of gun violence. Our world changed in an instant. But in this moment of sorrow felt so much love from everyone around us. Some of our closest friends and perfect strangers did things that we could never thank them enough for their kindness. It was in that heartache that we felt such love.
During this journey, it became apparent to many the mental health of our world is struggling. Many people in society are needing therapy but can’t get it. Many people are afraid to tell others of their anxieties. Many people are feeling isolated, alone, sad, anxious, afraid, uncomfortable and so many more ways. Sadly through the Covid pandemic, the isolation has turned difficult to cope. Shootings in our country are running rampant and suicides are significantly higher.
We as a board of Alaina’s Voice Foundation began discussing things we could do to follow our vision:
BE THE POSITIVE CHANGE
The first thing that came very naturally to our board was to offer “bridge therapy”. Many found themselves needing mental health support or as many call it therapy. However, there weren’t appointments available through their provider. Many were out of work and had no access or money to pay for therapy. Of course it was a difficult consideration. We set up a small network of some amazing local therapists with all different specialties, and allowed them to provide the services to people in the Napa Valley that were in need.
We want people to know,
“It’s ok to not be okay.”
“It’s ok to ask for help.”
“It’s ok to be different.”
We are all human and sadly, technology has removed so much of humanity in our daily lives.
That is what we believe we are doing, being the positive change. There is no intention for Alaina’s Voice Foundation to build anything that will get in the way or conflict with local services of some great organizations in the Napa Valley. If anything we want to support, promote and spread the message of many of these like: Mentis, COPE and NEWS to name only a few because are all doing amazing work. This is why Alaina’s Voice Foundation focuses on bridging the gap to get individuals the support they need.
The foundation had an amazing first music event in 2019 with Michael Franti at Blue Note, where over 600 were in attendance. To many that is tough to top. However, we were excited to know we were going to do our second in 2020 with Matt Nathanson, which understandably got postponed. Now we are excited and so incredibly grateful to announce this amazing musician and great performer plans to work with us to help spread hope and kindness. Matt Nathanson was still on board to play his music and help us spread Alaina’s Voice.
Bottlerock, Blue Note and Another Planet have been unbelievably supportive to help spread the message with us, that we are all in this together.
The concert will take place on August 15 at the Oxbow River Stage and we couldn’t be more excited to know there is no VIP, no private reserve.
We are all there to smile, laugh, sing, dance and be together.
Because we are
One Valley
One Heart.

Hello 2021! What does the new year mean for Alaina’s Voice?
The events of last year are unlike any that any of us have experienced before.
As we start to navigate the new year there are a few things that have been happening that we would like to update you on.
Firstly a huge THANK YOU! Continued support to the foundation through donations, and general kindness spreading has seen the foundation start the year with a lot of love.
Your support means everything to us!
We have remained dedicated to supporting our young adults with the Alaina’s Voice scholarship program, which is now covering Vintage, Napa High, Justin-Siena, American Canyon and New Tech.
- Within our community we continue to be a bridge therapy option, for those who require immediate help. Working with dedicated professionals to extend our reach to those in need.
- We continue to receive generous donations from individual contributors, through our GoFundMe Charity page, and corporate donations through the Benevity portal.
- A special thanks to Ride Napa Valley for hosting a successful virtual Rock the Ride 2020 and raising funds for the foundation. Also a few family foundations whose generosity continues even in these uncertain times.
Kevin Hart’s Celebrity Game Face on E!
During an episode of Kevin Hart’s Celebrity Game Face on E! Adam and Tamera Housley popped, swung and scavenge hunted their way to victory; resulting in the Hart of a Champion trophy for them and an amazing charity donation for the Alaina’s Voice Foundation.
